OK, this is a really cool craft.  It’s a form of embroidery, but instead of running stitches, you “punch” the thread through the cloth to make loops.  It’s like coloring with thread.  You can make you very own custom patches for clothing, bags, apron pockets, whatever you want!  It’s like embroidery with pile, or little mini carpets.  I really think you may get addicted to it once you try!  We have a couple of samples in the store soon for you to check out.

Just as the title suggests, this is the embroidery class that will take you to the next step after the into embroidery class (above).  If you’ve taken the intro class, or if you already know your stem stitch from your back stitch and want learn to improve your skills, this is the class for you.  The in-store sample will surely woo you.  It’s got me wishing my projects were so neat and tidy!

Oh, the choices!  Learn to make the Layered Skirt or the A-Line Skirt with an optional Apron Overlay from the new Amy Butler Barcelona Skirts pattern.  This pattern features lining and an invisible zipper(no previous zipper experience required).  In the end you’ll have a stylish and versatile skirt!

Ok, so maybe you’ve been wooed by all those great embroidery transfers out there, or maybe you’re into making your own designs…and you wish the finished project looked as cool as it did in your head.  Learn an assortment of stitches, and how to keep the backside looking just as fine as the front!  So, bring along a project that is in the works, start a new one, or just grab some floss, scrap fabric and have an evening of practicing.

Yep, that super-popular, fills-up-in-a-flash class is back.  So, all of you who have wanted to take it, give us a call fast!  We use the Favorite Things “cute skirts” pattern—a paneled skirt with a flat front waist and elastic in back.  It’s a great first project if you’ve played around with your machine a bit.  You’ll learn how to measure yourself to make the right size and have a skirt that you’ll love all summer long.

One night—Sunday, July 8^th, 4:30-6:30 pm  

This has been a great class for many a bolt customer.  We’ve seen some really great designs come out of this class!  In this two hour class we’ll explore both the basic technique and go over several variations that will help you on your way to a whole new way of personalizing your projects. 

The $5 material fee provides the paint, freezer paper, and some basic images to choose from, and fabric scraps for testing.  Students need to provide their own cutting surface (e.g., an old plastic cutting board), an exacto knife, black and white images or silhouettes that are easily traceable, and one or two of the following in light colored 100% cotton—t-shirt (any size), skirt, apron, tote bag, or pieces of fabric (at least 12″ square). 

No-sew class!  All levels welcome.

Cost: $25 (includes $5 materials fee)

You know the one-that ever-useful tote that everyone could use.  This is a “learn to sew” class, which means all you have to do is get a hold of a working machine (and a manual if you’re not so sure how to use it).  We have a sample of the tote in the store for you to check out.  It’s a timeless classic really.  Have fun picking out two complementary fabrics and in the end you’ll have a great shopping bag, beach bag, go-anywhere bag that you can proudly say you’ve made yourself!
