Freezer Paper Stencil Class!

One night class!  Thursday, October 16th, 6:30-8:30 pm 

This has been a great class for many a bolt customer. We’ve seen some really great designs come out of this class! In this two hour class you’ll explore both the basic technique and go over several variations that will help you on your way to a whole new way of personalizing your projects. Just think of all those fantastically unique onesies you can shower upon your friends and family!
The $5 material fee provides the paint, freezer paper, and some basic images to choose from, and fabric scraps for testing. Students need to provide their own cutting surface (e.g., an old plastic cutting board), an X-Acto knife, black and white images or silhouettes that are easily traceable, and one or two of the following in light colored 100% cotton t-shirt (any size), skirt, apron, tote bag, or pieces of fabric (at least 12″ square).
No-sew class! All levels welcome.
Cost: $25 (includes $5 materials fee)

Pattern Making: Skirts

 Sundays, Sept 7 and 14, 4:30-6:30 pm  (this session is waitlist only) OR

Sundays, Nov 9 and 16, 4:30-6:30 pm

Do you love wearing skirts? This class will be great for you! Learn how to take basic body measurements and relate that to flat pattern making. Create a basic skirt pattern and learn techniques to manipulate patterns to create the style of skirt that you designed.  (This is a no-sew class.)

Beginning Embroidery I

 Thursday, Sept 11, 6:30-8:30 pm OR

Wednesday, Sept 24, 6:30 - 8:30 pm (this session is waitlist only)

Learn the basic stitches: straight stitch, split stitch, back stitch, stem stitch, chain stitch, and blanket stitch.  Also learn how to transfer line drawings to your fabric of choice.  This one-night class will start you on your way to artful stitching! Bring in your own designs, or use ours!

Pattern Making: Bodices

Sundays, Sept 28 and Oct 5, 4:30-6:30 pm (waitlist only)

****New session added! Tuesdays, Sept 23 and 30, 6:30-8:30 pm

This class is designed for students to develop a basic front & back bodice. You will learn how to take measurements of the upper half of the body and relate it to flat pattern making.  You’ll be whippin’ up those customized tops in no time!  (This is a no-sew class.)

***Completion of this class is required for the Princess Dress Pattern making class and the Sleeves Pattern making class.  If you want to sign up for either of those classes and have not yet taken this class let us know and we’ll see about setting up another session of Pattern Making: Bodices.  Thanks!

Pattern Making: Princess Dress

Sundays, Oct 12 and 19, 4:30-6:30 pm

This is a great way to create a good fitting dress, we start of with our basic bodice patterns to create this dress that has no darts, just seams! You must have already taken the basic bodice pattern class. Make sure to bring the basic bodice (front & back) to this class.  Please let us know if you need to take the Bodice class, and we’ll see about adding another session if the first one is full.

Embroidery II

 

One night class! 

Thursday, Oct 9, 6:30-8:30 pm OR

Wednesday, Oct 22, 6:30 – 8:30 pm

In this class you will advance your stitching skills to include decorative stitches.  You’ll cover French knot, cross stitch, fill stitches, and scallop, threaded running, herringbone, lazy daisy, star, feather, and fly stitches.  Whew!  You’ll be the fanciest stitcher on you block!

Pattern making: Sleeves

One Night Class–Sunday, Nov 2, 4:30-6:30 pm 

Get ready for winter & learn how to draft sleeves! We start out learning how to draft a basic fitted sleeve & then manipulate the pattern to create fun & flirty designs of all styles/lengths. You must have already taken the basic bodice pattern class. Make sure to bring the basic bodice (front & back) to this class.

Cute Skirts (waitlist only)

Sundays, April 27th and May 4th, 4:30-6:30 pm

You know the one–that Favorite Things pattern that is ever popular!  A paneled skirt, flat waist in the front, elastic in the back makes for easier construction, and a flattering fit.  It looks great in all different fabrics.  So, think spring and come pick out some great new fabric to spruce up the ol’ wardrobe!

Pattern Making: Bodices

Learn to sew: Lunch Bag

Sundays, May 18th and 25th and June 1st, 4:30-6:30 pm

Have you been looking for a good replacement to that disposable bag you pack your lunch in? This is a “learn to sew” class, which means all you need is a working machine (and a manual if you’re not  sure how to thread it and wind the bobbin). You will get to choose interesting fabric for the outside and the lining and you’ll make up a great bag that includes two outside pockets. Learn to sew and make a great handy bag!

Skill level: Beginner
