This class meets 3 times. Monday August 12th, 19th, and 26th.
Shirt No. 1 from 100 Acts of Sewing is a great pattern to cut your sewing chops on. It’s easy to work with, and it leaves you with a super sweet blouse. In this class we’ll work through the pattern twice. The first time working exactly with the pattern as written. The 2nd time we’ll talk about simple ways to alter/change the pattern. We’ll walk through how to make it longer or shorter, add a pocket, or with a few slices cut out of the pattern and the addition of seam allowance to make it with contrasting fabrics!
In this class students will learn:
How to thread and operate a sewing machine.
How to lay out a pattern.
How to sew from a pattern.
How to use bias binding.
Simple options for altering a pattern.
Students will leave with one hand-made Shirt No. 1 and ideas, techniques and a road map of how to construct a second with variations.
