Jeans Construction Intensive

This class meets 3 times. Sunday October 27th, November 3rd, and 10th from 11 am - 4:30 pm.

Sewing your own jeans can be a life changing experience. Never struggle through too small, badly lit fitting rooms again once you can make your perfect pair of jeans. This workshop will give you the confidence you need to embark on your jeans making journey.

In this class you will learn:

  • Tips to sew denim or heavy twill

  • How to make minor pants pattern adjustments and minor fit adjustments

  • Zip Fly or Button Fly construction

  • Western style pockets

  • Topstitching tricks

  • Installing jeans buttons and rivets

  Prior sewing experience is required to take this class. In addition to intermediate level sewing experience and confidence following patterns, please have basic pants/trousers sewing experience ie; pajamas, leggings, boxers.

  • 2-4 yds 8-14oz denim (depending on pattern requirement and fabric width)

  • 5/8 yd pocketing fabric

  • For zip fly:

    • Metal teeth zipper (5"-9" depending on pattern requirement)

    • 1 button

  • For button fly:

    • 4-5 buttons

  • 1 spool Gutermann Sew-All thread or 2 spools Gutermann recycled polyester

  • 1 spool Topstitch thread

  • 6-8 rivets

  • Jeans sewing needle pack

*Materials and supplies are NOT included in the price of the class. All materials are available to purchase at Bolt Fabric, either in store or online. Students will receive 10% off of supplies purchased at Bolt Fabric and enjoy 10% off purchases made on class days. Please purchase supplies in advance of the class, as it is necessary to pre-wash fabric to manufacturer’s specifications.

Due to space restrictions, fabric needs to be cut out at home before coming to the first class. If you do not have space at home you may utilize our Open Sew before coming to the first class.
