Make a Duct Tape Dress Form

  • Bolt Fabric Boutique 4636 NE 42nd Ave Ste. C Portland United States (map)

$51 + $15 Materials

If you’ve dreamed of having a soft form that matches your own unique body dimensions to facilitate fitting and draping of sewing projects, well now you can make one of your own - with Duct Tape! Students will be guided step-by-step through building a duct tape body cast with a partner. The finished torso form will be stuffed and functional to fit and drape garments.

This 3 hour class will yield a stuffed, duct tape form ready to hang and use. Additional finishing options will be provided. Students will take turns applying multiple duct tape layers over a cotton t-shirt to cover the torso, with a partner. Wear well-fitted undergarments considering the effects of compression on the finished dimensions.

*Note-Though student may self-apply tape over sensitive areas of the body, this project may trigger personal space and other issues, since it requires physical contact. Please be aware of your boundaries and be willing to communicate them. That said, we will maintain a safe space by establishing ground rules, and practicing a dialogue of consent throughout the class.

Materials:

  •  A well-fitted 100% cotton t-shirt (Duct Tape won’t stick to blends or synthetics) any color, a turtleneck is ideal

  • Poly-fil or alternative (shredded foam) to fill equivalent of 5 -16”X 16” pillows

  • A hanger with a metal hook (to hang finished form)

  • Optional - 2 rolls (40 yd. total) patterned duct tape for final layer

Ticket price includes some materials and supplies that will be used in class. In this case, duct tape, and foam-core.

Come early and shop! Students will receive a 10% off discount on purchases made the day of class.
