Sewing with Knits

We all adore wearing knit fabric. Its comfort rivals that of any other cloth but many sewists find it intimidating to work with. In this 3 hour class, you will gain essential knowledge of sewing with knit fabric on a basic sewing machine through understanding the nature of such stretchy material and by learning a few simple techniques and tricks. It will set you on the path to create knit garments with confidence and ease.

In this class students will learn:

  • How to identify different types of knit fabrics and their ideal uses.

  • What type of needles and threads to use when sewing with knits.

  • How to adjust stitch length and width to determine the best stitch for sewing with a particular knit fabric.

  • Tips for using products like wonder tape and iron-on hem tape along with other tricks and techniques.

Students will leave class with samples of different types of knits and the appropriate stitches to use with each. You will have the skills and understanding to start making garments out of various types of knit fabric.  Come early and shop! Students will enjoy a 10% discount off purchases made the day of class.

Ticket price includes all the materials and supplies that will be used in class.
