Sewing with Knits: The Lark Tee


This class meets 3 times. Thursday April 4th, 11th, and 18th.

Master sewing with knit fabrics! Learn about different types of knits and their best uses, stretch ratios and the best stitches to use on a home sewing machine to create a T-Shirt you will want to make and wear over and over! In this class, taught by Tricia Crockett, we will be using the Grainline Studio Lark Tee pattern to make either the crew neck or scoop neck variation. Tricia has been teaching sewing in Portland for more than 35 years, she recently retired after 14 years as full-time apparel faculty at the Art Institute of Portland.

In this class students will learn:

  • How to measure for the correct pattern size

  • Different stitches to use with knit fabrics

  • How to sew necklines and set sleeves

  • Finishing techniques for knits

  • Tips, tricks and ideas for how to change the pattern for endless possibilities!

Supply list:

  • Grainline Studio Lark Tee pattern

  • Stable Knit Fabric in yardage required for your size. Please pre-wash fabric according to manufacturer’s instructions.

  • Matching Polyester Thread

Materials and supplies are NOT included in the price of the class. All materials are available to purchase at Bolt, either in store or online. Students will receive 10% off of supplies purchased at Bolt. Please purchase supplies in advance of the class, as it is necessary to pre-wash fabric to manufacturer’s specifications to achieve desired fit.
