The Compass Bag


This class meets 2 times. Saturday April 20th and April 27th.

This class is a great introduction to bag-making taught by local artist April Alden. Students will  make their very own Compass Bag by Noodlehead. Learn all about finishing details and take your sewing skills up a notch.

In this class students will learn:

  • How to install a zipper

  • Placing rivets

  • Top stitching

  • Strap construction Leave with your own finished bag and get excited about making your next one.

Supply List

  • Compass Bag pattern by Noodlehead.

  • Woven fabric in the required yardage for size. Medium-weight woven fabric recommended for the exterior, denim, canvas, or home-dec fabrics. Quilting cotton recommended for lining and accent fabrics. Please pre-wash fabric according to manufacturer’s instructions.

  • 8” zipper (6” for small size bag)

  • Matching sew-all poly thread

  • Fusible woven interfacing

  • Hardware: (2) 1” wide D-rings, (2) 1” wide swivel snaps, (1) 1” wide strap slider, magnetic closure, rivets (optional)

Materials and supplies are NOT included in the price of the class. All materials are available to purchase at Bolt, either in store or online. Students will receive 10% off of supplies purchased at Bolt. Please purchase supplies in advance of the class, as it is necessary to pre-wash fabric to manufacturer’s specifications.
