The Wiksten Haori: Intro to Sewing from a Pattern

  • Bolt Neighborhood Fabric Boutique 4636 Northeast 42nd Avenue, Ste C Portland, OR, 97218 United States (map)

This class meets 4 times. Wednesday June 19th, 26th, July 3rd, and 10th from 6-8pm.

Have you been dreaming of making the super popular Wiksten Haori? Do you feel a little shy about sewing from a pattern? Have questions on verbiage, layout or symbols on a pattern? Like company while sewing with no one judging you, but helping you in the most supportive way? Our Wiksten Haori Class is the perfect opportunity for a novice sewist to garner more skills, and have a helping hand to lead them through this super fun and approachable pattern. And in the end you will have a cute, versatile, 3 season jacket that you'll want to make again and again!

Materials needed:

  • For jacket main: Medium weight woven fabric with good drape. Textured cotton, chambray, linen, soft denim, twill or wool are all good options.

  • For lining: light to medium weight woven fabric with good drape. Textured cotton, chambray, linen and silk are good choices.

  • 2.5 yards flexible, lightweight fusible interfacing.

  • Matching thread.

Materials and supplies are NOT included in the price of the class. All materials are available to purchase at Bolt, either in store or online. Students will receive 10% off all supplies purchased at Bolt. Please purchase supplies in advance of the class, as it is necessary to pre-wash fabric to achieve desired fit.
