$45 + $1o materials fee
In this workshop we will explore mending styles from around the world and throughout history as a creative expression, method of care and act of rebellion. Holes in our clothes are opportunities to tell stories about where our clothes have been and create opportunities to add new colors, fabrics and textures to our garments.
Students will learn:
How to diagnose the best techniques for different mends.
How to patch knit and woven fabrics.
How to darn knits by hand.
Boro/Kantha inspired reinforcing styles.
Students will leave class with a short mending zine made by instructor Claire Beaumont with mending resources and diagrams. Please bring 1-2 garments that need to be repaired and any special fabric or yarn you’d like to use for mending. All other materials and supplies will be provided and are included in the materials fee.
