Wabi-Sabi: The art of finding beauty in the imperfect. Join us as we explore free form/ improvisational patchwork. In our commitment to minimize textile waste, we will be working with fabric scraps (the left over bits, the remnants, the imperfect pieces) to create one-of-a-kind quilts. Develop your own personal design aesthetic as we stitch freely and without rules.
In this class, taught by local quilter Adriana Moreno of Moonshadow Goods, students will discover the joy and freedom of creating improv patchwork and will work towards creating a 20” x20” quilted wall-hanging. All sewing levels welcome. Students will learn:
Improvisational patchwork piecing
Making a quilt sandwich
Hand-quilting with Perle Cotton
Making bias-binding and binding your quilt
Ticket price includes the Wabi-Sabi Quilt kit which contains:
Fabric Scraps (Students are welcome to bring some from home as well)
2 Fat quarters for backing and binding
1 spool Gutterman Sew-all thread (student’s choice of color)
