The Chemisette Handbag
Shelly of Figgy Studio is teaching a class on this wonderful handbag in a few weeks. There are so many wonderful skills to explore as you construct a very fun and functional bag.
I was
quite excited about making the sample for this class because Craft Apple was a designer I had yet to
try out.
I was truly impressed with her simple
instructions and lovely illustrations.
The pattern was inspired by a “chemise”. A chemise was worn under a
corset during the middle ages and when you first begin to construct the bag it
looks like the top of a gorgeous dress.
You’ll learn to make gathering stitches and how to use interfacing.
Inside the bag (which is just as
important) has two pockets but in class I can show you how to add a third
pocket to separate your keys from your wallet. We’ll also add a magnetic clasp for closure. I selected the Joel Dewberry Deer Valley Persimmon fabric and once it was constructed it demanded a girls’
night out!
Join me Tuesdays August
25th and September 1st from 6:30-8:30pm to make your own
Chemisette handbag and then you can make one for a friend for your next “girls’
night out”.
