Vintage Silk and Cotton by the Yard
If you've been to Bolt in the last few months, you may have noticed tied stacks of sari silks next to the cutting counter. They are gorgeous and I find it incredibly hard not to smile when I catch a glimpse of them. These bundles are made up of 1/2 yard cuts of vintage silks from India. Our supplier, Melinda, has just returned home to Portland from a buying trip and Gina has decided to carry some of what she brought back-- this time by the yard! We now have vintage silk and cotton sari fabric-- all hand loomed by generations of Indian craftspeople and all one-of-a-kind. They are BEAUTIFUL. You can read about why handlooms are so special and look at the regions where Melinda travels to find these treasures.
These fabrics will sew up into wonderful accent pillows, duvet covers or curtains-- not to mention, really special clothes. As more fabric becomes available, we'll also be restocking the selection of 1/2 yard bundles... if you're itching to try some, you may want to stop in soon and check them out!
