Sweet Nothings (and sale sale!)
I don't know about you, but when I'm at home I want to be comfortable. Shoes and socks come off immediately. Maybe you change clothes all together into something I like to call "comfy clothes." Now my comfy clothes are not the most fashion forward items in my closet--old band t-shirts I can't bear to get rid of, knit gaucho pants that are so 2006, or just plain ol' tank tops and pj pants. This book, Sweet Nothings by Valerie Van Arsdale Shrader, caught my eye the other day at Bolt and got me thinking...maybe it's time to add a few nice pieces to the comfy clothes repertoire to spice things up a bit. My husband would agree.
Just a few of the standouts--
Pretty Lemon Drop, a baby doll nightie. A little more delicate than I normally wear. Probably a good thing.
Morning, Sunshine, a slip dress. Bonus for me would be the patchwork border at the hem. Great for using up fat quarters or charm packs.
Polka Dot Bloomers. I love bloomers! A lot like the aforementioned pj pant. But cuter. And shorter! A must-make.
Narcissus, panties. Something a definitely want to tackle making. These look simple and attractive.
There are other great projects too--romper, camisoles, a robe, a garter belt. If you haven't worked with voile yet, you really should try this perfect-for-intimate-apparel weight fabric. Light, soft, and drapey but in 100% cotton. And we've got silks, knits, and tricot edge and lace elastic to help fulfill your new comfy clothes desires. I was so inspired I picked up some of this new Joel Dewberry Heirloom Voile and I will be turning it into something. Maybe bloomers?
