Just in: Storybook Lane, more Nani Iro, lobsters

—by Gina

I’m not sure if it’s the color palette of grey, aqua, dark blue and pink or the sweet pink coo-coo clocks with antlers that has me loving the group Storybook Lane by Kelly Lee-Creel.  There’s a piece in the middle of the picture that is designed to be able to make your own stand up little house with little story book finger puppets.  Cute!  I can envision the small florals as girls’ dresses quite easily…

It’s always a great day when we open a box of new Nani Iro double gauze prints.  These lovelies are so gorgeous, soft, with Naomi Ito’s beautifully simple, subtle yet colorful designs.  My imagination is running wild with the many apparel items that could be perfect with these pieces—summer dresses, tunics for any time of year, children’s clothing.  And, then there’s the easy-breezy baby wrap.  A swaddling blanket in double gauze is a wonderful gift for the new mama in your life!

It seems like there’s a new nautical print coming out of every corner these days, and I have been enjoying them.  I particularly like it when things are mixed up a little bit—a little something unexpected, like these blue lobsters from Michael Miller Fabrics.

Don’t forget, we’ve got lots of exciting events on the horizon!  First, Denyse Schmidt is joining us at Modern Domestic for a book signing this Friday.  The following weekend, August 4th and 5th will be a store-wide sale: all products (books, patterns, notions, buttons, fabric, really, all products) will be 20% off.  All currently marked down items will be an additional 10% off.  And, to add to the excitement, our neighbors, Close Knit will be joining in on the sale!  Wow.  That’s a weekend event not to be missed.  And, the weekend after that—come on out and enjoy the festivities at the annual Alberta Street Fair.  Good times for all!
