Jalie Drop Pocket Cardigan

—By Heather

I am in love with my new cardigan/jacket and want you all to make one so you can be in love too. Jalie patterns have never failed me and this one is no exception. The close-fitting design is ideal for wearing over short sleeves and tanks, turning your favorite summer tops into four-season garments.

I used a heavenly french terry for this version (started with an off-white and used iDye to create the sage green color). Besides being a dream to work with, these knits offer good heft and structure resulting a very comfy, casual jacket. I may end up using this as a pre-/post workout jacket—sort of a stylish sweatshirt. The length also lends itself to being worn over tights or yoga pants. But for today I am pairing this version with my favorite jeans and may not take it off even at bedtime.

For a dressier version I will definitely shorten by two or three inches and select a lighter weight knit with more drape. Sweater knits are good candidates for this pattern as well. Choices are abundant at Bolt, so come in and we’ll help you select just the right fabric for your Drop Pocket Cardigan.
