Make Your Own Espadrilles

By Sarah

I have always wanted to make my own shoes and now it's possible thanks to these reasonably priced, DIY espadrille soles and supplies by Dritz.  The soles, fabrics (outer & lining), twine and needles are all sold separately which is great because you may already have 3" needles or twine in your sewing box and who doesn't have a heap of lonely fabric scraps waiting for transformation.  That said, you could potentially walk away in your cute new espadrilles for under $20!

The best part of these make-your-own espadrilles is that the possibilities for embellishment are endless. Just google image 'embroidered espadrilles' and you will be in total awe at the fabulous examples out there!  I kept it simple with our store sample by stitching two humble rows of black yarn down the toes' top and then went back and twisted a turquoise thread around the black stitches.  Voila!  Interested in giving these a shot? Yay! Come visit or call us and see if we have your size.  We stock limited sizes but are happy to order whatever size your footsies require.
