Owyn Pants from Everyday Style

by Cameron

Earlier this spring, I was on the hunt for some simple, non-jean pants that I could keep wearing when the weather became sweltering. We have lots of great options in the store, and I settled on the Owyn Pants from Lotta Jansdotter's book, Everyday Style.

The flat front makes them a little more flattering than your typical elastic waist pants. The tapered, cropped leg dresses them up just enough to make them feel more like pants than pajamas.

These pants, just like most elastic waist pants, basically sew themselves once you've made a pair or two. The first pair I made were pretty spacious, so I sized down for this pair and was much happier. I suggest measuring the flat pattern pieces to get a sense of the finished garment measurements (I couldn't find them listed any where in the book) and going off of that when picking your size. I also think the flat front waist could be made a little sturdier with a canvas interlining or fusible interfacing.

I made these up in one of Alison Glass' batik collections. It's a good weight and hand for pants. These will be nice and light on a hot summer day and there are so many colors and designs from which to choose.
