Take with You Projects for Summer

I fell in love with the pieced together sashiko samplers at the Emma Creation booth at Spring Quilt Market.

Sometimes it's just too hard for me to say no to things. That seems to be the case with embroidery kits lately. I have a long time love affair going on with hand stitching. Unfortunately for me, my affair is mostly in my daydreaming mind, and less in reality. But, the other day I was spinning my mental wheels, not getting done as much or what I was aiming to, and was feeling more and more stressed with every half hour ticking by in my day. I finally stopped resisting and gave into the day and that it just wasn't going to be what I had thought it would be. I asked myself what felt like the next right thing for me to do, and lo and behold, working on the sashiko stitching project I had meant to start oh, just about two years ago (!), was the answer. So, even though I didn't get far or have much time with it, I started. And I loved every second of it, even when I was pulling out my wonky stitches and re-doing. I know it seems odd, as the owner of a fabric store to state, but this was such a good reminder to me of the value of making with my hands, being present and manifesting something. So, now I will try to carve out more time, especially through the summer, to catch some sun, and make something.

We are working this week on building up our hand stitching selection on our online store for you far away fans. You can see our current selection here. We currently carry four different designers' kits, and more, including Sublime Stitching, if you are looking for transfers on their own. If you prefer a book chock full of projects, we've got you covered. Just in is this book of radical women cross stitch portraits!
