Capes are a perfect layering piece to add to your autumn/winter wardrobe. They add an unexpected note combining elegance and playfulness, while also keeping you cozy.

We will initially be focusing on some all-important styling choices, such as finding your custom length (which will depend on your frame and function of the cape), deciding on the type of closure (snaps, buttons or just belt loop and belt), deciding whether you want to go minimalist with no bells and whistles or if you’d like to include pockets or arm openings.

    • how to thread and use a sewing machine

    • basic sewing vocabulary

    • sewing a straight line and maintaining a seam allowance

    • hemming

    • handling curves

    • making styling decisions

    • working with heavy fabrics
