Last week we were delighted to open up the box with these lovelies inside.  These are hand silk screened, organic cottons from Ten14 Textiles, by Josi Severson.  Her designs are simple, modern and pleasing.  She uses only environmentally friendly ink and organic cotton base cloth.  We are thrilled to offer our customers such beautiful, environmentally responsible product made here in the U.S.  Josi was kind enough to answer some questions for us.

Where do you find inspiration?

I have a strong desire to create designs that have geometric relationships to them.  Most designs start out with a line and just go from there...

How did you find yourself designing fabric?

I originally went to school for fashion design.  When I found out about textile design it was natural to go in that direction because I always drew things that resembled something that could be put on fabrics.

why do you like fabric as a medium for your creativity?

Because it can be used by others for their own creations.  One of my favorite things is when people send me pictures of things they made with my fabric.

what are you doing when you’re not designing fabric?

When I have any free time I like to walk my dogs Austin and Sterling or watch documentaries.

what’s your favorite animal?

Dogs- they're amazingly loving and offer unconditional support to you whenever you need it!

Don't forget that our 6th birthday sale is right around the corner!  Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 28-30th.  All fabric will be marked down and all patterns that are currently not marked down will be 25% off all three days!  Horray!  One more goodie to toss in there for you--for every $50 spent during the sale, you'll receive an hour of free sewing down at Modern Domestic, good through the end of the year.  It's the perfect place to spread out (especially with the expansion happening) and work through those holiday gifts.
