Natural Dyeing for Quilters

Come explore the magical world of natural dyeing! In this one day workshop, we will go through the entire natural dye process, discuss the fundamental components of natural dyeing, and walk away with three beautifully dyed bandannas!

In this class you will:

  • Learn how to prepare fabric for dyeing

  • Learn the fundamental components of natural dyeing (and why each is important)

  • Measure dye materials and solutions based on weight of fabric

  • Dye three bandannas using three different dye sources: onion skins (golden yellow), cosmos flowers (soft orange), and madder root extract (red).

    This class is appropriate for all skill levels. No prior experience required!

    • Components of natural dying and their purposes

    • Measurement of materials and solutions

Our classroom is on the second floor and is currently only accessible by stairs. We are working on a solution to make our space accessible to everyone.
