Making & Fitting Pants: Matchy Matchy Archer

5:30 to 8:30pm
Level 1 : You can thread and operate a sewing machine.


This class will guide you through the process of sewing and fitting a perfectly customized pair of pants using Matchy Matchy’s Archer Work Pants pattern.

Students will sew a mock-up, learn how to modify the fit, transfer changes to their paper patterns, then sew their final versions.

Taught by Amanda Melbostad.

    • You can thread a sewing machine and sew a (mostly) straight line.

    • Cutting and sewing a toile from muslin fabric

    • Techniques for fitting pants to your own body

    • Transferring alterations to a paper pattern

    • Sewing and finishing techniques for pants

    • A pair of pants that fits you well (if you have one!) to compare to your mock-up pants.

    • Midweight denim, midweight canvas, mid to heavy weight linen, mid to heavy weight cotton

      Please wash & dry the fabric for your final garment before bringing it to class.

    • Fusible interfacing

    • Coordinating thread

    • 2” non-roll elastic

    The amount of fabric you need will depend on the size you choose and the width of fabric. Refer to the pattern instructions for details.
