The Sylvie Dress

If you have been intrigued by one of our Christine Haynes patterns, but felt cautious because of the cover’s stylistic drawings, I can assure you that these patterns are well designed and will give a sweet and feminine touch to your wardrobe. Here is their Sylvie dress, a pattern that may seem quite summery but can easily be made into an Autumn staple. I was actually a little bit worried when I rounded up this classic grey pin stripe flannel to make my sample from, since the Portland Autumns and Winters seem to always guarantee weeks upon weeks of grey overcast skies. So I broke up the grey with some navy velvet ribbon, and loved the result.

My favorite part of the dress design is the three bust darts on either side of the bodice. They give the bodice great shape and are incredibly flattering in my opinion. I love Autumn and Winter for so many reasons mainly because beyond clouds and rain, this half of the year promises warmth from fireplaces, hot chocolate and the decadence of the holiday season. And I’m excited to see how this flannel Sylvie dress will do over a button down shirt, under a coat, or on its own, adding some fun to braving colder weather. (And smuggling Holiday sweets in the convenient skirt pockets)
