Fiber Art Shows in Portland

We are fortunate enough to have a couple of wonderful fiber oriented exhibits happening around town this month. I can't wait to check them both out!

From the artist, Anne Greenwood: "Tapestry of Hours is an artists book inspired by the life and work of the late Oregon poet and seamstress, Hazel Hall. In this work I have republished Hall's Needlework poems from Curtains 1921 and created a limited edition textiles book with hand-stitched embroidery and printing. "

Tapestry of Hours will be on exhibit at the Multnomah County Central Library’s John Wilson Room from November 9-December 31, 2016. An artist talk and official opening featuring artist and poet Kaia Sand reading Hall’s work will be held Saturday November 12 from 11am-12:30pm. The Multnomah County Central Library is located at 801 SW 10th Ave., Portland, Ore., 97205. Hours are Tuesday: 3:30-7 pm, Wednesday: 2:30-5:30 pm, Friday: 10 am – 2 pm and Saturday: 1:30 – 5 pm.

Stacy Polson’s felted work often gives the impression that one is viewing an illustration from a dramatically charged Japanese folk tale. Needle-felting is the process of of interlocking fibers by stabbing them repeatedly with a barbed needle, allowing her to paint or sculpt her “wool paintings”.
