There are a couple of exciting job openings around town that would be perfect for awesome crafty minded people like our customers. Some require sewing experience and some don't.

Queen Bee is looking for a retail salesperson:

Queen Bee designs, manufactures & sells handcrafted bags, accessories & textiles in North Portland and online. In addition to our own goods we also sell handcrafted jewelry, apparel & housewares made by other local & regional designers. We are currently seeking a retail store salesperson position to join our busy team. Our work environment is unique - we are not just a store. We are actively making our goods, shipping, designing, printing, and more. It is a very creative & fun place to be!

Qualified candidates will have retail store sales experience with an ability to sell, a friendly and positive attitude, enjoy talking with people, and an ability to stay focused, motivated and self-directed. A genuine interest & passion for handmade goods, fashion, and indie design is essential. Because we are a small business with a busy & interactive team, there is no “down” time while on the clock. There are always many things happening and we are looking for someone who likes to learn new skills, is happy to help with anything that they can and that enjoys staying busy throughout the day. Extra points for strong marketing skills & experience.

Multnomah County Sheriff's Office is looking for a sewing specialist:

Are you an accomplished seamstress/tailor?  Do you enjoy hand sewing and working with electric sewing machines?  (Juki LZ-2280N and White Speedylock Differential serger, currently.)    If your answer is yes, please apply!

Multnomah County Sheriff's Office has a temporary sewing specialist position working at Inverness Jail in NE Portland. Hours are flexible to enable completion of work as needed forthe operations of the facility.

Your duties would include:

  •  providing sewing services, such as mending, alteration and the repair of a variety of
  • uniforms, inmate clothing and other items
  • creating and modifying patterns
  • the operation and care of electric sewing machines
  • creation of plus-size clothing, bras, underwear, etc.
  • the ability to problem solve, exercise independent judgment and work with little supervision

Give and Take Resale is hoping to find someone who take in mending and repairs for the shop and customers:

Give & Take Resale is looking for an experienced sewer and textile enthusiast who would be excited to offer alterations and general clothing maintenance to our customers. We would expect you to run your own business out of our shop, organizing your own rates and policies but being available twice a month for pick up, drop off and on site mending. 

In exchange for accessing our clientele and using our space e simply ask that you do the mending for the shop. We also will require that you are trustworthy, reliable and genuinely a skilled mender.  We're ready to begin when you are!
