June Machine Basics: Pillow Cover

  • Bolt Fabric Boutique 2904 Northeast Alberta Street Portland, OR, 97211 United States (map)

Thursday, June 11th
5:30pm to 8:30pm
Level 0: Assumes you’ve never used a sewing machine

Have you ever wanted to learn to use a sewing machine? Maybe you’re rusty and need a refresher? Intimidated by zippers? Or maybe you got a new machine and want a fun and easy project to learn. This pillow class is a great place to start.

This 3 hour class will cover:

  • Tour of the machine

  • How to thread and wind a bobbin

  • Basic stitch practice with samples to take home

  • Pressing and pinning technique

  • Learning to work with a zipper and make a hidden zippered enclosure

This class is part of our machine basics series and will cover threading and using a sewing machine. You do not need to know how to sew—we will teach you! We have enough basic sewing machines available in the studio and you don’t need to bring one. If you would prefer to learn on your own machine, feel free to bring it in. Just know that the teacher may not be able to help troubleshoot any machine-related issues that arise.

    Taught by Laura Bentz.

A materials discount of 15% will be offered in the store.

This class is suitable for Absolute Beginners and above. Ages 18 and up.

Our classroom is on the second floor and is currently only accessible by stairs. We are working on a solution to make our space accessible to everyone. Thanks for your understanding and patience while we work this out. You may e-mail us at classes@boltfabricboutique.com if you have any questions about this process.
